House Bedroom #1 is furnished with a circa 1840 three panel rosewood Lincoln bed, rosewood armoire, circa 1790 English chest on chest, and two Louis XV sub style mid 1800's chairs set near the fireplace with a camel saddle table/tray between them. The camel trunk at the foot of the bed was part of the original furnishings. Pictures include an English oil painting, figurines and embroidered silks from travel in China.
House Bedroom #2
The North Upstairs Bedroom has a two panel walnut Lincoln bed and a c1820
linen press hides the television. Two wing back chairs with a hassock/tray
between them in front of the fireplace make for a pleasant place to relax.
Both bedside chests convert to desk tops for writing space if needed and
there is an extra desk chair in the room. A tapestry covered Louis XVI
settee sits between the two front windows. The mid to late 1800’s
Renaissance Revival dresser and a hurricane lamp were a part of the house
furnishings in earlier years. There is a walk-in closet and full bath
including a shower/tub.
House Bedroom #3
The Upstairs South Bedroom has a four poster canopy bed (a copy of an early
1700’s bed from the Old Crow Inn in Danville) made from walnut by a local
craftsman who also made the comfortable walnut rocking chair sitting by the
fireplace. The TV table was made by a local woodworker. There is a twin
bed in this room as well, just in case three people are traveling together
and a mid 1800’s school desk. An early 1800’s empire chest provides ample
storage and so does the walk-in closet. The full bath provides a
shower/tub.
Relax in a comfortable rocking chair and watch the sunset from the front porch, or enjoy card games, puzzles, etc. in the dining room or living room. You might prefer badminton or a stroll on the beautiful grounds around the buildings. There are also several areas to relax with a good book.
The Grounds are 5.25 acres professionally landscaped. Behind the house a dale with beautiful surroundings offers a tranquil setting where you can enjoy a waterfall as it cascades over the hill on its way to the lake. Grilling facilities are also available in the dale.
